Born out of a meatpacking tradition that started in the Eastern Market of Detroit, Wolverine is now in its third generation of family ownership. What started in 1937 as a small lamb and veal packer has turned into a full-faceted protein company with multiple plants producing ground beef items, portion control steaks,value-added products, boxed beef, poultry, pork, frozen seafood, and still to this day, fresh lamb and veal.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Wolverine offers two comprehensive medical and prescription drug plan options: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) PPO and Blue Care Network HMO (BCN) insurance with low co-pays and deductibles.
The company pays the majority of the cost of the plan and allows employees to contribute with tax-free payroll deductions.
Our PPO plan offers more protection than other companies, limiting your exposure to costly health expenses. BCN’s HMO plan requires a primary care provider who directs all medical care within the BCN network with lower payroll contributions.
DENTAL INSURANCE
Employees receive dental insurance coverage at no payroll cost to you. Employees may cover their spouses and eligible dependents up to age 19 and full-time students until age 25.
Covered services include preventive, basic, and major dental services.
VISION COVERAGE
Wolverine also offers vision reimbursement coverage at no payroll cost.
Patients can visit any vision provider and get reimbursed up to plan limits for exams, frames, and lenses.
LIFE/ AD&D INSURANCE
Because it’s so important to those who depend on you, Wolverine Packing provides basic and voluntary life and AD&D insurance.
Basic coverage is provided at no cost. Newly eligible employees can purchase voluntary coverage without answering health questions during initial enrollment.
DISABILITY INSURANCE
In the event that you become disabled from a non-work related injury or sickness, Wolverine provides short term disability insurance to replace a portion of your income for a period of time.
This coverage is provided at no cost to our employees.
401K RETIREMENT PLAN
Another way that Wolverine shows appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our employees is to establish a 401k retirement account for our employees.
Upon meeting eligibility requirements, employees can redirect a portion of their income on a tax-free basis to save for future retirement goals. Employer contributions vary based on your plan.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) - The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential service providing professional consultation and referral services to help with personal, job, or family concerns. Use the EAP to help you and your family identify, resolve, and gain control over family, financial and legal issues, substance abuse, emotional and mental health, problems.
EMPLOYEE DISCOUNTS - From chicken thighs to rib eyes, Wolverine employees can purchase premium product at wholesale prices.
WEEKLY PAYROLL - Employees are paid on a weekly basis.
